Martin Togstad received his Bachelor’s Degree in Satellite Technology Engineering from UiT Arctic University of Norway in 2022 and his Master’s Degree in Satellite Communication Systems from INP ENSEEIHT in Toulouse, France, in 2024. Prior to his academic career, he graduated as a certified telecommunications technician in 2016 and served in the Norwegian Army as a signal technician from 2016 to 2019. During this period, he completed the Army’s Non-Commissioned Officer School (Hærens Befalsskole), earning the rank of Sergeant and signal workshop foreman.
During his studies, he has worked several internships for the R&D lab at Comrod AS in Norway, developing ship-born SATCOM antennas for improved AIS ship tracking signal reception as well as investigating solutions for deployable VHF antennas for AIS ship tracking satellites. In March – September 2024 he was a student intern at Thales Alenia Space in Toulouse, where he worked on his master thesis project on researching and developing deployable inter-satellite link (ISL) antennas for large 5G-NTN (Non-Terrestrial Network) satellite constellations. From January 2025, he is enrolled as a PhD student at Heriot-Watt University working on array-fed deployable reflector antennas for space in collaboration with Large Space Structures GmbH in Munich.
His research interests include deployable antennas, antenna design, antenna analysis tools, and beamforming techniques for array-fed reflector antennas.
