Combining the expertise of many academics in the Microwave and Antenna Engineering Group in Heriot-Watt University, we are pushing the research forefront on integrated active arrays and various applications, including:

From technology aspects:

  • Active array modelling, involving non-linear and memory effects;
  • Linearisation techniques;
  • Wideband, high-efficient power amplifier MMIC and circuit design;
  • Channel precoding and equalisation involving transceiver non-reciprocal;
  • Active array loadpull effect and its mitigation approaches;

From application aspects:

  • Satellite multi-beam antenna systems;
  • Cellular base-station antenna systems;
  • Physical-layer wireless systems, including directional modulation and radio frequency fingerprinting;

The details of the 4-by-4 active antenna testbed can be accessed by clicking below.
