Igniting Curiosity, Inspiring Futures: Contributions to School of EPS ‘STEM Outreach Mission’

In 2025, our group members and students contributed significantly to the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences (EPS) ‘STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) Outreach Mission’, with Dr. Jayakrishnan M. Purushothama and Prof. George Goussetis guiding the efforts, and with outstanding support from the School Leadership Team. So far, the team has conducted three outstanding events: representing the University at the European Science is Wonderful fair in Brussels (an EU MCSA Actions initiative; full credits to our PhD students Aymeric Cailleux, and Adan Simon), hosting a STEM showcase on campus, and participating in the Wonders of Space Family Festival in North Berwick (an Edinburgh Science Festival initiative). More exciting events are on the way!!

These initiatives demonstrate Heriot-Watt University’s dedication to inspiring curiosity, encouraging collaboration, and fostering a scientifically literate society in alignment with Strategy 2025.
