Miss Jiayu Hou received her joint Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunication Engineering from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh (Honours of the First Class), UK, and Xidian University, Xi’an, China, in 2022. She was awarded with University Prize in 2019 from Heriot-Watt University, and China National Scholarship in 2020 from Ministry of Education of China.
She is currently pursuing the Ph.D. Degree at Heriot-Watt University under the supervision of Dr. Yuan Ding and Prof. George Goussetis. She was the winner of the First year Postgraduate Research Prize in 2023, and the Second Year Postgraduate Research Prize 2024, both from Heriot-Watt University. Her current research interests include power amplifier (PA) linearisation technologies, microwave and radio frequency (RF) designs for highly integrated massive active arrays for future wireless communications, software defined radio, and passive and active beamforming networks. She has been doing research on a number of funded projects, including ESA-funded Ku-band Satellite receivers, EPSRC-funded RF-domain physical layer security, industry-funded reconfigurable beamforming network, with rich hands-on experience of PA design/implementation/measurement, Loadpull measurement, USRP LabVIEW programming, etc. As a highlight, she has developed an active array platform with 4-by-4 chains, for wireless communication research topic.
